By far the oldest and one of the most notorious secret societies in history.

Canada was founded by Masons, and dozens have served as Prime Minister. The influence is still present today with Prime Minister Stephen Harper being a member of the craft.

Devious conspiracy and cover-ups to promote 'Brothers of the cloth' have been the by-product of this fraternity. Recent plots range from the Jack the Ripper murders of 19th century London to Pope John Paul I, who died under suspicious circumstances 33 days after being anointed.

Famous Freemasons throughout history include:

American
Presidents -
George Washington, Andrew Jackson, James Polk, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, James Garfield, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Howard Taft,Warren Harding, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Gerald Ford
Early Patriots- Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Lewis and Clark, Paul Revere, Davy Crocket

Canadian Prime Ministers - John A. MacDonald, John Abbott, MacKenzie Bowell, Robert Borden, R.B. Bennett, John Deifenbaker

This is by no means a complete list, but we will update occasionally. Memberships are difficult to confirm, but as always we make our best effort to be accurate.

It has been widely speculated for years that Canadian serial rapist Paul Bernardo was also a brother of the cloth. Apparently at the time of his arrest, a photo was published in the Toronto Star of him wearing a Masonic ring. Some publicly released police reports state him leaving his residence in attire similar to descriptions of Masonic apron, jacket, hat and gloves. Although nothing as of yet has been proven, it is proven that the lead investigator of the case is a Freemason. Could this be a current example of Masons protecting each other, even going against oaths they made to their country to protect the public? The Grand Lodge of Canada has kept mum on the matter, which of course only adds to the speculation...
